Barley Forge Brewing Company

Barley Forge Brewing Company opened a few months ago in Costa Mesa. It’s the first production brewery to open in Costa Mesa. They make Belgian, West Coast and German-style beers.

We stopped in for a cold one after our warming meal at nearby Cal Shabu.

Barley Forge feels very comfortable. If we weren’t so full, we would have tried some food. I had just enough room for a pour though!

I usually drink dark beer and the Fusty Puckett sounded quite perfect. It’s called a winter warmer brown ale. It’s a little bit lighter on body but had a good spice to it (ginger, cinnamon, orange).

I’d love to come back to try a few more – the El Paisano (amber ale) and Black Dahlia (Belgian dark ale) sounded great to me. Hop heads might want to go for the Orange Curtain (IPA) or One Louder (double IPA).
